Since November 2009, Karen Swindler has served
as senior vice president of manufacturing for the Americas region of
LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemicals and refining
companies. In this role, Swindler leads manufacturing operations at 23
facilities located across the U.S., Mexico, Brazil and Argentina.
Prior to the December 2007 merger of Basell and
Lyondell Chemical Company, Swindler was vice president of polymers manufacturing
in North America. Before this, she acted as general manager and vice president
of health, safety and environmental (HSE) for Lyondell. She also previously
directed global planning and scheduling in the
supply chain organization.
Swindler began her career at Lyondell in 1991 as
a production engineer at the Equistar complex in Clinton, Iowa. She moved to
Channelview, Texas as olefins plant manager in March 1999. Swindler has since
held various positions in manufacturing, HSE and strategic planning. Earlier in
her career, she worked for Exxon Chemical Company in Baytown, Texas.
Swindler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
chemical engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. She is
based in Houston, Texas.
